What is it? 
An assisted living-like environment that combines subsidized housing with supportive services such as case management, homemaking and personal care assistance.  The Taunton Housing Authority and Bristol jointly operate the project.  Residents live in their own private apartments and receive services needed to maintain independence.

Who's eligible? 
Individuals who need social and health services to maintain independent lifestyles but do not require 24 hour supervision.  Individuals must meet income guidelines for subsidized housing and for home care services.

Where is the supported housing site located? 
Fitzsimmons Arms is located at 30 Olney Street in Taunton.

Is there a cost? 
Yes.  Monthly rent and fees for services are based on income.

What is it? 
A combination of housing, personal services and health care that offers a unique mix of security and independent living, privacy and companionship, and physical and social well-being.  Assisted living facilities differ greatly with regard to housing design and services offered.

Who's eligible? 
Individuals who cannot or choose not to live alone and who need help with typical daily activities.

Where are assisted living facilities located?

Does insurance cover assisted living? 
Some long-term care insurance policies do cover assisted living.  Check with your insurance agent to see if your policy covers residency in assisted living facilities.

Does MassHealth cover assisted living? 
MassHealth coverage of assisted living services is available on a limited basis for individuals who receive this benefit.  Check with the assisted living facility to determine whether the facility has openings for individuals with MassHealth.

Is there a cost? 
Yes.  Costs vary greatly and depend on the size of rooms, amenities, services provided and location.  In Massachusetts, the average monthly cost exceeds $3,000.

Who's eligible? 
Low-income individuals who meet local housing authority requirements.
